Getting To Know HeyJoles Founder – Jolene Ho

“Nothing is impossible if you choose to see the possible.” This phrase is a shining light in my life and I hold on to it dearly. When I divorced a few years ago, I was literally at the lowest point of my life. I was homeless and I thought I wanted to end my life there and then. I had lost the will to live as I was hit left, right and center!

The worst is yet to come. In June 2019, I was suddenly hit with a stroke! I collapsed and was unable to stand up. This happened one day before my mediation session for my divorce. In Feb 2020, I was hit with a second stroke! I had to undergo 2 operations for my stroke condition during the circuit breaker period of 2020. Since then, I am on a blood thinner medication to keep my medical condition stabilised. Unfortunately, I also was diagnosed with insomnia. I am so grateful for my dear friends and colleagues who stood by me during those days.

To make things worse, I lost every deal that I was canvassing in 2019. Everything just goes downturn. I decided to take a break from work and nurse my medical condition after my 2 operations.

I told myself that I will recover and I will use my life to help my customers buy and sell the best home that they can. This has been and will always be my motivation in my career. I am very lucky to have also met very instrumental mentors in my life to motivate me and to guide me in my realtor career. This life coach is also a business entrepreneur, who has helped many women to succeed in business.  She enrolled me in a 3 months sponsored course and taught us how to do business and succeed in the digital world. I am forever grateful to her.

With my renewed confidence in life and in work, I decided to work doubly hard to give back to my family, friends and society in general. I also received a tremendous amount of referrals from many of my friends and relatives. Did you know that my income in 2019 was actually $0? Moving forward in the year 2020, my total yearly earning is only ⅓ of my past yearly income when I was in a partnership with my ex-husband and his manager. 2021 was an equally tough year due to Covid. 

However, determination is embedded in me and I will never bow down to pressure. I worked hard to make sure my customer sold their house at the highest possible price, and bought at an equally attractive price. I make sure that I use my skills to negotiate the best deal for my customers! On top of my earnings, I also had to pay hefty medical bills for my stroke conditions. To make sure I succeed, I tried door to door knocking and made hundreds if not thousands of cold calls. I even did Shopee delivery during Covid to make ends meet. Remember that I still had to pay rental too!

To summarise, life is never a bed of roses. If you are like me, suffering from some matters, do not fret! The turning corner is right about there! Persevere on!

I’m happy to report that in Quarter 2 of 2022, I am finally back in the Top 300 of ERA. 🙂
